AGC Report

J. Green

410-435-2528

  Meeting of September 7, 2004.

 ● The Maritime Institute of Technology (Merchant Marines) will begin firearms training at our AGC ranges in the next few weeks to meet the new requirements developed the Department of Homeland Security. Seems this need arises from the ever growing terrorist threat to our maritime shipping industry.

 ● The always welcome Maryland State Police used our Hi-Power 200yard Range for some specialized training on September 23rd.

●Hunter Sight-In began on October 2nd,and will available to all prospective hunters to sight in their rifles and shotguns for the upcoming season with a charge of $5 per gun. Sight-in will continue every weekend through November.

 Legislative Report

Jim Meyer

 410-833-8310
Four years ago this November, the eyes of the world focused on a single state -- Florida -- as the course of American history was decided by a mere handful of votes. Whether or not you think it was a good thing that George W. Bush eventually emerged victorious, there is no doubt that our country would be markedly different had Al Gore been in the White House on September 11, 2001.What a lot of people fail to realize, however, is even more profound. The fact of the matter is that were it not for the votes of gun owners, Florida wouldn't have mattered at all! ▪ You see, Al Gore lost three important states, all of which lean Democrat and are heavily populated by pro-union voters, normally a "bank on 'em" Gore constituency. Those states were West Virginia, Arkansas (home of Bill Clinton), and even Gore's own home state of Tennessee. Voters in those states just couldn't abide the thought of Gore taking away their guns. Had he carried just ONE of those three states, Al Gore would currently be President. ▪ The point is that the votes of gun owners can tip the balance even for the nation's highest office. In the halls of Congress (where the REAL gun battles are fought), those votes carry even more weight. ▪ This November, every single one of the 435 House of Representatives seats and one-third of all Senate seats are up for grabs. Gun owners, if they value their freedoms and their firearms, simply cannot afford to stay at home on November 2nd.    ▪Need more evidence? This month, a GOA-supported candidate for Congress in North Carolina won his primary-- by a margin of 86 votes. Grass Roots North Carolina, that state's premier gun rights group, undoubtedly accounted for many more votes than that through their efforts... the contest would have gone the other way were it not for gun owners. A single vote can and does make a difference. That's why this special message is being sent... along with an impassioned plea for each and every one of us to do our civic duty. Please help make gun rights a massively effective issue on November 2nd..

►TAKE ACTION NOW◄

First, be certain to vote on November 2nd yourself. If you're going to be away on a hunting vacation that Tuesday, then get an absentee ballot today! Of course, you can't vote if you aren't registered. Most states have deadlines requiring you to be registered well in advance of Election Day-- and many of those deadlines are literally right around the corner. 2. So please, if you aren't currently registered to vote, take steps RIGHT NOW to cover that base. 3. Chances are pretty good that you fully intend to vote and are already registered-- you guys are dedicated grassroots activists. But, what about your buddy? Your relatives? Everyone at the range, the church, and all of the clubs you belong to? Please make a concerted effort to forward this alert widely, or even print it out and distribute it by hand at meetings. Better yet, do both. ▪ Bear in mind that keeping politicians in line with respect to our gun rights is a two-fisted job. First, we send them reeling with our postcards, e-mails, letters, etc. during the legislative season. Then, if they don't listen, we hammer them at the polls on Election Day. The best thing you can do to protect your gun rights right now is to get registered and then vote-- while encouraging others to do the same. Excerpted from GOA-(gunownersof america.org)

● Our club is still looking for volunteers to help run the Trap Range on Sundays.

All AGC charter and associated clubs are scheduled to run the range every Sunday throughout the year. Our club is looking for anyone to help us meet our obligations.. No experience? No problem!  We'll train you! Call Robin if you can help.

· Every Wednesday at the Marriottsville Trap Range for sporting clays. If you want to tune up the trusty old shotgun and sharpen your winged bird skills then Wednesday mornings at 10am the "Old Geezers" shoot. If you can't make that one then maybe the afternoon shoot is more convenient.  Call Robin for details.

Hunter Safety Program

Rich Oursler

410-799-2128

Rich was pleased to announce another successful program. The August classes averaged 45 people while the September classes had over 50. This program has become an important fixture at the AGC range and has become a highly successful program thanks to the efforts of Rich and his able crew. Hunters in Maryland need programs like this…they must pass a written competency test on firearms and

Hunting safety. Qualifying for a Hunter Safety card also bypasses the need to sit for that stupid 20-minute video in order to purchase a firearm.

New Business:

●Stu proudly announced that our club has renewed it membership with the National Rifle Association and with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). In order for any member to take advantage of purchasing an M-1 Garand or other military rifles and ammo you must refer to your club membership card and use the club CMP Number: 71100 to transact any subsequent purchase.

● So, what's  the word on our upcoming and world famous Christmas Holiday Party? It will be here before you know it. Any suggestions???  Stu took a vote and the club decided go with the same caterer as last year…. Hap & Hack, Inc.

Remember this is the one event that should not be missed, so let's start thinkingabout contributing and helping our club out in this great endeavor!!

Call Stu with your ideas>

5-Point Star: Happy
Birthday

So, who you gonna vote for…….Decision 2004!

Remember, the elections are  November 2nd …… less three weeks away. Your "2nd Amendment Voice" must be heard at the ballot box!  Your Board of Directors hope that you cast your vote for your gun rights, so please vote for:

   President … George W. Bush

   U.S. Senate…E.J. Pipkin

Quote of the Month:

Why John Kerry is a Fake, a Fraud and a Second Amendment Phony: "In the U.S. Senate Kerry has cast more than 50 - FIFTY-

Anti-gun votes to strip away your freedom. If you thought Al Gore was bad, then John Kerry is a gun owners worst nightmare." Kayne Robinson, President,NRA

Also, did you know that the portraits of John Kerry and Jane Fonda hang on the walls of a Hanoi museum honoring them as their hero's in the war against our troops during the Vietnam War.  The Swift Boat Veterans and the POW veterans held at the infamous Hanoi Hilton can attest to the fact that Kerry

must  be revealed for what he truly is: an opportunistic phony who will do and say anything to be our president .
