Nextel is looking at the possibility of putting a radio tower on the range property.  There is no new information on this proposal.  Del did bring up the concerns about the proximity of the tower to the ranges and the AGC will investigate before any decision is made.
The building renovations are coming right along and looking better if you have not had a chance to check it out.  If you have a trade that will be needed on the construction of the building, contact Al Schweitzer or Ralph Macella 410-242-5250.

Although this was supposed to be the year of no gun bills there were approximately 35 that have come up so far.  Most of these have died in committee.  The noise regulation bill was passed, however, the ammo tax bill died.  There is a complete list of this information on the web page for anyone interested in the details.
Don has raffle tickets to support the Marylanders for Preservation of Firearms if anyone is interested.

A letter from the President
No letter from the President was received in time for publication in this newsletter.

From the Secretary
I have continued to receive many copies of the newsletter back as undeliverable, if you know someone in the club that says they did not get a newsletter, please give them my name and address so we can get the information straight.
Remember, if you would like to receive your copy of the newsletter electronically, please let me know at bz@iefurn.com for the next edition.
Don’t forget, this is your newsletter if you have something you want included or if you have an ad to place in the classifieds make sure I get the information by the 2nd Sunday after our meeting.  That is my deadline for publication.

New Web page Address
I hope you have had a chance to check out the information posted on the web page.  Sean works very hard keeping the information up to date and it would be a shame if the club members did not take advantage of this resource.

Fundraising
A club cannot survive without the money necessary to pay the expenses.  The price of membership dues is not always enough to cover the expenses of maintaining the club.  That does not even include any special events that the club would like to hold.  If you have a knack for fundraising techniques or just a desire to become more involved in your club and would like to take on this task, please call Stu.

Pistol Picnic
The Pistol Picnic will be held on July 22nd beginning at 10:00am at the Pistol Range.  The club will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls, chips, condiments and soft drinks.  Everyone is invited to attend and bring your family.  Each family is asked to bring a covered dish to share with the group.  Jim will run a dueling match for any interested shooters.  It is a great day, weather permitting, and a nice way to introduce family members to your sport.  Mark you calendars and try not to miss this event.

April Meeting Minutes
Once the Pledge of Allegiance had been said Stu made a couple of public service announcements regarding other clubs at the range.  Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club is selling raffle tickets $2.00 each or 3 tickets for $5.00.  There are three prizes and the winners will have their choice.
Arlington held their annual Food Bank Drive on April 22nd.  The turnout was good for the event and the money and canned goods collected will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you to all that helped.
Stuart asked me to remind everyone that the meetings will be called to order promptly at 7:30pm and if you have a new member joining they should arrive at 6:30 for the necessary range orientation.
The picnic scheduled for May has been cancelled due to a conflict with the range availability.
The Stemmers Run Club ID cards are ready and will be mailed to anyone that has not received their card at a meeting.
The range will be holding a Minority Day on June 23rd.   They need instructor volunteers to assist with the firing line.  The purpose of this event is to show the positive side of the shooting sports and to hopefully spark an interest in new members.  If you have some free time on the 23rd, please let Del Cockey know.  Del is checking with the AGC to determine if the hours worked at this event will count towards range badge credit.
The Maryland State Games will be held on July 28th and there is some effort being made to shoot Summer Biathlon at Marriotsville.  More on that as the information becomes available.  Del will be checking on whether or not the hours worked at this event will count towards range badge credit.
Stu issued a challenge to all members to recruit one new member each by the September meeting.  Let’s see what we can do to achieve his goal.
