● Four clubs did not have their members
cover regularly scheduled Sunday Trap Meets. This has been an ongoing problem
with some clubs who have recently seen membership numbers drop, and with it a
resulting decline in volunteers. ● The Maryland Department of Natural
Resources provided a $3,000 grant to the AGC to be used for ongoing range
improvements. As reported in our March mailer, this grant was made possible
from the hard work Stemmers Run members Rich Oursler, ● The AGC owned houses behind the range
are still looking for renters. Maybe club members with interested friends or
relations could pass the word that rent is very reasonable. ● AGC will testing the waters for a
possible Archery League in the near future. If your interested, give them a
call. ● The pistol range will be ready in time for the upcoming NRA
Regional Pistol Championships, to be held during the week of our
Independence Day celebration. |
Legislative Report Jim Meyer (410) 833-8310 ● Jim reported that the NRA National Convention held
in For those who went, it was a once in a lifetime event, with more guns and shooters than you could shake a stick at. Jim reports that there were some anti-Gun nuts available, but mostly just to laugh at make fun of. In fact, Jim said that if you take all the gun shows you've ever seen, roll them into one, then you've got what this event was…. The biggest and the best!! ● While Senate Bill SB 288 is history in like Leah Barrett are up to at all times. We must stay aware of their latest moves to disarm Marylanders. begin the training of a number of selected cadets from the Randallstown High
Naval Junior ROTC. Stu has had recent planning meetings with the unit commander
to kick start the process and everything is on track to get them to the range
very soon. Meanwhile, Stu is looking for club members to help out in this
important process. If you have some time to help pass on the craft of
marksmanship to the next generation, please give Stu a call. He will need any
help and support you can offer. |
Shotgun Robin Meyer 410-833-8310 ● Great
News For Trap Shooters! We will have a club Trap Shoot prior to our upcoming
meeting this Sunday May 16th from
5 til 7pm.
Prior to the April meeting we had absolutely no one show up for this event. So
break out the old scatter-gun and let's shoot some clay pigeons. ● As always, there is Trap every Wednesday afternoon and Sundays at the Messick Trap range. If you are looking for sporting clays throughout the area, from Littlestown
and Hunter Safety Program Rich Oursler (410)799-2128 Rich announced that the AGC has applied for a Department of Natural Resources sponsored Range Grant worth $3,000. This grant, if awarded to the AGC, will allow us to make upgrade improvements and is critical for the AGC to remain in the forefront of positive state sponsored programs.
